Michael Sweet is determined and melodious guitarist and vocalist. He started feeling the chords of guitar at the age of 5 and started vocal singing at the age of 12. He also showed interest in playing piano, drums and bass guitar.
Singer Michael Sweet was born on July 4, 1963 in Whittier city of Los Angeles, California, United States. He is eminent for his writing skills and as a leader and cofounder of band Stryper. Stryper band was a pioneer of Christian rock music.
Before the name “Stryper” it was rock band Roxx Regieme founded by Michael and his brother Robert in Orange County in 1982. Guitarist Oz Fox and keyboardist Kenny Metcalf joined the Roxx Regieme. Then band changed the name to Stryper in 1983. Bassist Tim Gaines also joined Stryper.
Sweet got fame with the band Stryper and he recorded five hit albums and got famous in the whole world. With these albums he got many accolades in his account.
He is a great vocalist. In the search of his own identity he left the band in 1992. He performed solo after that. His first album released was “Unstryped”. Most of the songs of this album were intended for the band.
In 1994 his self named album “Michael Sweet “was released. It gave huge success to his career. Almost 250000 copies of his album were sold. Next album was “Real” released in 1996; this album paved way towards the nomination of “Dove Award”.
Kyle Rae Sweet was the soul mate of great guitarist. They both tied knot in 1986. They have two kids Michael and Ellena. Michael is 23 and Ellena is 19. Kyle Rae died on March 5, 2009. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2007. He loved his wife and spent 23 lovely years with her.
“Truth” was his next demo album released in 1998, for which he was again acclaimed. Sources say “Truth “was his best creative work. With the addition of new songs he re-released the album “Truth”; this was when he signed the contract with Restless Records.
Because of his great vocal ability, he performed in Boston’s “Come together: A tribute to Brad Delp” in Boston at Bank of America Pavilion.
He entertained people with his melodious vocal and with guitar chords. He went on recording with Boston’s like “More than a feeling”, Peace of Mine”, “Amanda” and so on. In 1999, Sweet got a chance to perform with Stryper band mates, Tim and Fox for a concert in Puerto Rico. They sang four songs together. They reunited the very next year and held a Stryper Expo in New Jersey. But instead of Bassist Tim Gaines, Tracy Ferrie was in the band because Tim decided to leave Stryper in 2005. As the band was reunited they released album titled “Reborn” and “Murder of Pride”. He dedicated his album “Touched” to his wife Kyle in the wake of her death.
In 2009, September Stryper celebrated their 25th anniversary. They embarked on world tour “Rocking the hell out of you for 25 years” in which son of Sweet also participated along with all the members of Stryper. Later, in October of 2009, got engaged with Lisa and got married to her on January 8, 2010. His journey of music is still on.
